Ultrabland Cleanser & Catastrophe Cosmetic Mask | A Lush Review

Ah, Lush, one of the places I could spend my entire paycheck if I'm not careful. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the company, they are a European based cosmetics store that specializes in fresh, handmade, 100% vegetarian products (don't worry vegans - there are products for you too!). Luckily those of us who live across the pond can shop at one of the US locations. Today I purchased the Ultrabland facial cleanser, and was given a free sample of the Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask. I was looking to reduce facial redness, and both of these products included calming ingredients, such as rose water and chamomile blue oil.

Positives: The Ultrabland cleanser stands out, as you do not need to wet your face prior to use. For me, this is a huge plus, as the less I risk soaking everything with water the better! The product easily glides over the face due to the smooth and creamy consistency. Not must cleanser is needed to cover the entire face, which helps this product last. After applying, you simply wet a wash cloth, and wipe it away! This is easily the least messiest facial cleanser I've used - and my skin was left feeling softer after just one use!

Negatives: As with most Lush products, this is pricey. A 1.5 oz. container is $17.95, but I truly believe this price is well worth what you get. Also, as mentioned, not much product is needed to cleanse the entire face.

Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask

Positives: The Catastrophe Cosmetic face mask was given to me as a free sample, which included two applications. I applied the mask immediately after using the Ultrabland cleanser. This product is kept refrigerated, and the coolness caused by this felt wonderful on my face. The product was slightly difficult to apply, and I found slightly warming it up between the fingers helps it to apply smoother. The mask dried quickly, and I washed it off using warm water. The residual faint smell of blueberries is a nice added bonus. I think the best part of the Catastrophe mask is the price - 2.1 oz for just $7.95!

Negatives: This product needs to be refrigerated, and they only last about 3 weeks before expiring. For me, neither of these things are negatives, but if you dislike having to keep it refrigerated, or only use face masks every once in awhile, you may consider a different product.
